  • "Viola pedata", the birdsfoot violet, bird's-foot violet, or mountain pansy, is a violet native to sandy areas in central and eastern North America.
  • "Cortinarius violaceocystidiatus" is distinguished from the other purple secotioid fungi of New Zealand in having a dark violet to almost black pileus with pale violet mottling, presence of infrequent violet cystidia, and narrower basidiospores (12–15 × 5–7 μm).

  • Violet objects are normally composed-light violet. Objects reflecting spectral violet appear very dark, because human vision is relatively insensitive to those wavelengths.

  • Dorsum gold-colored, the scales edged with violet; a few irregular narrow violet-black crossbars may be present. Ventrum brighter gold-colored, with violet-black crossbands or alternating spots.
