  • On the eve of the book's publication, van den Bruck inserted a preface in which he wrote, "The Third Reich is but a philosophical idea and not for this world, but for the hereafter. The novel explores the theme of the "Übermensch" (superman) in the character of John Wainwright, whose supernormal human mentality inevitably leads to conflict with normal human society and to the destruction of the utopian colony founded by John and other superhumans.
  • The album "Knightfall" by Swedish band Silent Images, is based on the "Batman: Knightfall" story arc, with Bane cast as a central character.
