  • Von der sehr ähnlich aussehenden Echten Zaunwinde ("Calystegia sepium") unterscheidet sich die Acker-Winde durch die Blüten, die bei der Zaunwinde gut doppelt so groß wie bei der Acker-Winde sind.
  • Die Santa-Ana-Winde, auch Teufelswinde, Teufelshauch oder roter Wind genannt, sind warme, trockene Winde, die hauptsächlich im Spätherbst und Winter das Wetter in Südkalifornien beeinflussen.
  • Die vorherrschenden Winde, „ábregos“, kommen von Südwest und bringen vor allem im Herbst und Winter Niederschläge.
