Anwendungsbeispiele Englisch
  • The manufacturing of fertilizers, which often begins with the Haber-Bosch process, is another practical application of industrial inorganic chemistry.
  • The HaberBosch process relies on catalysts to accelerate the hydrogenation of N2. The catalysts are "heterogeneous", meaning that they are solids that interact on gaseous reagents.
  • Today the HaberBosch process produces 100 million tons of nitrogen fertilizer every year.
  • Current microstructured optical arrays are composed of silicon and created via the Bosch process, an example of Deep reactive ion etching and not to be confused with the Haber–Bosch process.
  • RuO2 can be used as catalyst in many other situations. Noteworthy reactions are the Fischer–Tropsch process, HaberBosch process, and various manifestations of fuel cells.

  • The HaberBosch process to produce ammonia from the nitrogen in the air was developed by Fritz Haber and Carl Bosch in 1909 and patented in 1910.
  • Ammonium nitrate was mined there until the HaberBosch process made it possible to synthesize nitrates from atmospheric nitrogen, thus rendering nitrate mining obsolete.
  • The main industrial procedure for the production of ammonia today is the thermal Haber-Bosch process, which generally uses fossil gas as a source of hydrogen, which is then combined with nitrogen to produce ammonia.
  • These developments, such as the HaberBosch process, eventually resulted in nitrogen fertilizers and related products.
  • The dominant industrial method for producing ammonia is the Haber process also known as the Haber-Bosch process.

  • Prior to the advent of the HaberBosch process, an energy-intensive method developed to carry out industrial nitrogen fixation and create chemical nitrogen fertilizer, most nitrogen introduced to ecosystems arose through biological nitrogen fixation.
  • In 1909 Bergius worked for one semester with Fritz Haber and Carl Bosch at the University of Karlsruhe in the development of the Haber-Bosch Process.
  • For example, the HaberBosch process uses metal-based catalysts in the synthesis of ammonia, an important component in fertilizer; 144 million tons of ammonia were produced in 2016.
