  • Originally named Ashdod D, Yad Shimshon and Uziyah, it was finally named after Uzziah of Judah (Uziyahu in Hebrew), who, according to the Bible, built cities in the current location of the moshav.

  • Azariah ([...] "‘Ǎzaryāh", "Yah has helped") was a high priest mentioned in the Hebrew Bible (2 Chronicles 26) at the time of King Uzziah's leprosy (c. 751 – 740 BCE).
